Our team had a great day on the water finishing 3rd overall in the 2000M although we were 1st by a large margin in our heat. We are extremely pleased with this result. We worked our hardest in very tough conditions. There were two heats in total due to number of boats in the women's category. Our race was the first and the officials had to delay the race by 1/2 hour because it was too windy and not safe. They came back and said the race was a go but we needed to paddle with only 18 paddlers and not 20 because there is less likely the boat would tip because it would be lighter. It was very hot and the waves were coming into our boat as we turned the corners. Our steers person was amazing!! She had that boat turning on a dime. The second heat was much calmer and the winds had died down completely thus it really was not fair to compare the two races. China won gold and Montreal took the silver. Both of whom were in the second heat. Tomorrow is another day. We have our 200M preliminary and semi's in the late afternoon again and then the finals on Saturday.
Until next time! Cathy and Larry
