Last day at the Races

04/08/2008 00:20

We had another successful day at the races.  We won another bronze medal in the 500M. It was a very close race.  China took first and we trailed Montreal women by 3/10 of a second.  It has been an amazing experience paddling with such great paddlers from all over the world.  Although the heat was relentless the journey was amazing.  Our supporters who came cheered loud and we were greatful to have them here.  We did have some challenges while here. The bathrooms were portapotties but holes in the grounds instead of toilets and the food at the races were great for our spectators but not the healthiest for the racers.  4 days of fried fish is not the most appetizing!!   I also had my paddle stolen on day 2 which was a real bummer however Dad bought me a new one just in time for our 200 M final.  He was a real sweetheart and has become an official member of our team!!  I raced today on the opposite side of the boat than usual with a fever and bad chest cold.  I have never worked so.. hard in my life! Most of us have sore throats or colds from in and out of air conditioning.   Now on to another leg of our journey.  We are off to Borneo for a few days and then off to Vietnam.  Hope all is well tomorrow.
